The Lely Resort has 15 miles of sidewalks ideal for that early morning walk or bike ride. Or why not go fishing in one of the 47 lakes you will be amazed at what you can catch! Lely is conveniently located between Down Town Naples and Marco Island. Both are cosmopolitan towns, renown for their long white sandy beaches, fine shopping and casual dining. For the golfer, it is said there are more courses than Alligators in Collier County, and for the fisherman the 10,000 Islands are home to monstrous Tarpon, Snook, Permit, Shark, etc. Naples has a great beach (widened in 1996) which has unusually white sand and a variety of shells. The beach has public access at every street. The Naples Fishing Pier is over 1000 feet (300m) long and features a shop selling snacks and bait. Head boats are available to take fishermen to the Gulf for half-day and full-day excursions. Boats may also be rented for use in Naples Bay and other inland water as well as in the Gulf. Naples has a variety of upscale shops in the 13th Avenue South area as well as in the original Fifth Avenue South area. There is also a typical American Mall (Coastland) on US41. Tin City on US41 at Naples Bay has numerous boutiques and waterfront restaurants housed in old tin roof buildings. The Naples Downtown Art Festival is a major event held annually on the weekend following Christmas. Almost the entire length of Fifth Avenue from US41 to the beach is filled with hundreds of booths selling every imaginable art item from carved ostrich eggs to major sculpture. Naples National Art Festival is held in February in nearby Cambier Park. Wildlife is a major theme in the Naples area. Jungle Larry's Caribbean Gardens has been amazing visitors with its animal collections for 50 years. Nearby Corkscrew Swamp Wildlife Preserve allows visitors a close-up look at Florida flora and fauna in the wild including (usually) alligators and bald eagles. Boat excursions for shelling are available in Naples and airboat or swamp buggy tours through the Everglades are available in Everglades City. Marco Island is the largest of Florida's Ten Thousand Islands, located on the Gulf of Mexico in Southwest Florida. It has been described as Magical, Mystical and Alluring. The attraction is tropical sun-washed white beaches and a casual easy paced life style. Sunshine, frolicking dolphins, and all of the water and sun sports that go with the beaches are available for your pleasure. The restaurants will delight your taste buds with fresh seafood and their wonderful island creations. Explore the wilderness of the Ten Thousand Islands by land, boat or air. Enjoy superb fishing and abundant wildlife. Southwest Florida is a tropical paradise. Warm temperatures, balmy breezes, sunny skies and an occasional shower are the norm for Naples. The Gulf Water temperature ranges from the mid 60's January through March and up into the mid 80's from June through September. Southwest Florida's average air temperature is 77 degrees.
